Fake News about Chemical Weapons in Sudan Is Part of a Political Campaign to Smear Eritrea by Ethiopian Propagandists and Brigade Nhamedu Lobbyists
Ethiopian propagandists and Brigade Nhamedu lobbyists from Washington DC Elias G, are tying fake chemical-weapons claims in Sudan to Eritrea.
Their message is that Eritrea supplied the Sudanese Armed Forces with chemical weapons. That charge is not supported by the public record.
Eritrea acceded to the Chemical Weapons Convention in 2000 and to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1995.
It ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty in 2003. It has told the United Nations that it has never developed and does not possess nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons. It has never used chemical weapons.
Reports on alleged chlorine use in Sudan point to activity inside Sudan and to civilian or commercial chlorine sources, not to an Eritrean stockpile or transfer. Sudan’s army denies using chemical weapons.
Those disputes do not become proof that Eritrea armed the SAF with banned agents.
In 1990 the Ethiopian air force bombed Massawa civilians with napalm, phosphorus, and cluster munitions. Those were incendiary and cluster weapons, not chemical weapons under the CWC.
Eritrea should name these special interests @EGerasouli35992 @Chakham_Analyst , demand evidence, and answer the smear in public and, where the law allows, in court. A chemical-supply accusation is meant to brand a CWC state party as a proliferator. No such proof has been produced.
