Former advisor to George W. Bush and CIA analyst Cameron Hudson claims that he has seen the diplomatic demarche the State Department has delivered to countries in the region announcing the imminent lifting of US sanctions on Eritrea and the normalization of relations.
He assumes that the new American-Eritrean relations are more serious than what US advisor Massad Boulos describes.
Recently, Massad Boulos denied any plans for a secret deal with Eritrea during his meeting with Eritrean Foreign Minister Saleh Osman in Cairo, Egypt.
Boulos said America is balancing its ties between Egypt, Ethiopia, and Eritrea.
Observers speculate that the reason for the US to lift the sanctions on Eritrea is the Houthi threat in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
