Many proudly call the United States their home and have built thriving communities with successful businesses, restaurants, and churches in major cities across the country, including Washington DC, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and beyond.
These communities contribute significantly to American society through entrepreneurship, cultural enrichment, and community service. From bustling Eritrean restaurants serving traditional injera and stews to active churches that serve as cultural anchors, Eritrean Americans have woven their traditions into the American fabric while supporting one another and their homeland.
Among the notable Eritrean Americans are rap legend Nipsey Hussle, comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish, former NBA player Thomas Kelati, musician Lloyd, rapper Aminé, actress Azie Tesfai, and many others who excel in entertainment, sports, business, activism, and the arts.
This 4th of July, we celebrate not only American independence but also the resilience, success, and contributions of Eritrean Americans.
