The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and the Head of the General Intelligence Service of Egypt, Abbas Kamel, visited Eritrea on Saturday and met with Eritrean officials. Discussions focused on the close Egyptian-Eritrean relations, the situation in Sudan, the Red Sea, and Somalia. The Egyptian delegation and the Eritrean officials agreed to strengthen diplomatic, trade, and security ties between the two countries. Additionally, both sides agreed to provide support to Sudan and defend Somalia’s sovereignty.
Both Eritrea and Egypt believe that interference in Somalia’s internal affairs by hostile outside forces is destabilizing Somalia and threatening its sovereignty.
