Somalia & Eritrea Meeting: President Isaias Afwerki and Eritrean FM Osman Saleh met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing. The leaders discussed the strong relations between the two brotherly countries, emphasizing the close friendship between Somalia and Eritrea.
Since 2018, Eritrea has been providing training to thousands of Somali soldiers in their fight against Al Shabab. Eritrea continues to be a steadfast supporter of Somalia’s unity. Conversely, Somalia showed its support for Eritrea’s independence struggle by hosting, training, and arming the Eritrean freedom fighters.
